In 1984 Patrick Guilbaud opened what was by far Dublin's most upmarket restaurant. Today, with two Michelin stars Guilbaud’s is Dublin's most famous restaurant: very assured, very establishment, very French (but showcasing brilliant Irish produce) and suitably expensive. Food at this very, very grand level and commensurate service can never be cheap and every capital city needs a restaurant like this. Sample the delights, on a budget, by going for the set lunch which is quite an institution on Saturdays.
